“Cooking with Flowers”

Cooking with Flowers is a gastronomic competition that began within the framework of the Flower Festival in its 5th edition.

Antigua Guatemala boasts a wealth of culinary talent, and in 2025, the culinary celebration must continue. We invite various food businesses, hotels, food lovers, and pastry chefs to participate and have the opportunity to be recognized with this cultural initiative. "Cooking with Flowers" aims to provide a platform for each participant to showcase their dishes, beverages, and desserts, allowing us to explore local and regional culinary art through the lens of flowers.

→Hours: 9 am to 4 pm

→Location: Finca Carmona Trails, KM 3.5 Carretera a Santa María de Jesús, San Juan del Obispo.

Showcase your creativity

→You must decorate your stand with flowers and include in your decoration items that represent this year's theme "Ancient City of Arts, where stars bloom, inspired by Artists who have broken the mold" (Cruz España, Fernando Botero, Carlos Mérida, Frida Kahlo, Van Gogh, Luis de Lion, etc).

→(In the judges' rubric, there will be a rating of the Stand) Size 2 m x 2 m, includes table (1.50 m in diameter), white tablecloth, over tablecloth umbrella (2.10 m in diameter) and two chairs.

General participation requirements:

→Each participant may register in only one category.

→Dishes and drinks must: Include edible flowers as a main or complementary ingredient | Incorporate at least one Guatemalan product (cocoa, corn, coffee, rum, local fruits, spices, herbs, etc.) | Be an original and creative proposal.

Participants must bring their own ingredients and utensils. The organizers will provide work tables and basic access to electricity and water.

→The maximum preparation/presentation time will be 60 minutes (except for mini cakes, which can be prepared in advance and only presented).

Mini Cakes Category

→Prepare individual or mini-sized cakes (petit fours, tarts, decorated mini cakes, etc.) that include edible flowers and Guatemalan products.

→They can be prepared in advance and submitted directly at the competition.

→Artistic presentation, creativity, baking technique and balance of flavors will be evaluated.

→Relate the mini cake directly to one or more details that involve the theme of this edition

•Two or more edible natural flowers (at least one of them inside the preparation, the other can be decorative).

•Each cake must contain at least 3 Guatemalan ingredients (they can be in the preparation or as decoration).

•The size of the cake to be presented should be 2 to 5 servings.

•The technique for decorating the cake is at the discretion of each participant (fondant, meringue, pastillage, buttercream, etc.) and it can be 1 or several of the techniques presented on the same cake.

•The use of dummies/styrofoam as a base for decorations is not permitted.

•The flavor of the cake batter is up to each participant (remember that it must have at least one of the flowers inside the preparation).

•The use of artificial sweeteners (Splenda, Stevia, etc.) is not permitted.

•The presentation and assembly of the cake, the details and the proposal will be evaluated

You must meet all the items mentioned in each category to be evaluated on the day of the competition.
